Wipe of SDR vs HDR

You are previewing an HD (non-4K) version of this content.

Length
2:36
Description
HDR
Curve: Perceptual Quantization (PQ)
TV Nits: 1000
Color Space: DCI-P3
Resolution: 3840x2160

SDR (simulated)
Curve: Simulated Gamma from PQ
NIts: 100 Simulated from 1000
Color Space: Simulated Rec709 from DCI-P3
Resolution: 3840x2160

Workflow
The simulated SDR portion of the wipe was achieved by re-grading clips on an HDR tv (1000nit/P3/PQ) to match originally graded SDR clips displaying on a separate, standard tv (100nits/Rec709/Gamma, calibrated). To get the HDR clips to match the SDR comparison clips, luminance and contrast levels were dropped, colors were toned down, and other adjustments were made until the comparing clips were in-distinguishable. The HDR and simulated SDR clips were then composited with an animated wipe.
